And Other Micro Living Spaces
Tiny houses and micro-dwellings are not a new concept. The trend is just picking up pace thanks to social media. Throughout the late 1800's and early 1900's the "Shotgun Shack" was a popular dwelling choice for many blue collar families throughout the southern parts of the United States. Typically it was a small single story house that consisted of one or two small bedrooms and a larger single common area. Although cramped, it provided the necessary shelter and accommodations needed to survive. You've heard of "Little House on the Prairie", right?
Do you find yourself daydreaming about what it would be like to be able to live life free, on your own terms? Are you tired of the oversized house, the maintenance, the utility bills, or simply feeling stuck in one place? Do you find yourself wishing you could just not be living "their dream" that you have been force-fed your whole life?
When the recession hit the housing market in 2007-2009 the small house movement began to catch on as an idea of affordable and ecologically friendly housing. Since then the movement has become more mainstream and popular as many younger home buyers adopt a more minimalist and adventurist mindset.
You don't need to be "young" to own and live your dream. As a matter of fact, many retirees have given up the stick frame houses, traded in the RVs and are opting for eco-friendly, off-grid micro-dwellings for their retirements. There is no age limit on living your dream.
Since 2020, there has been a major increase in the desire to scale down our material belongings and live a bit more freely. Free from being chained to the idea we need a house that is too big to maintain, expensive, with too much clutter, and locked into a grid that is barely holding on as our society puts higher demands on it.
Living big in a tiny space doesn't mean you need to sacrifice those things you love, like hot water and electricity. Some of us like that whole, rustic, "roughing" it, camping life style, and some of us don't. That is perfectly OK and rather acceptable in the tiny house world.
Our micro dwellings, or as we like to call them, "boujee builds", do not sacrifice luxury, comfort, safety or security. We design and build these with the idea that anyone, anywhere can live in these. 100% independent, self contained, and every safety concern addressed and factored in.
